Federal judge blocks key parts of Arizona immigration law | would "interfere" with feds ignoring law

Well if the feds' policies and objectives are to NOT enforce our country's laws and borders (which unfortunately we know is true), then YES Arizona's enforcement of the laws the feds are ignoring DOES interfere! BUT THAT'S A GREAT THING!

Politico: Obama, student lefty | WHAT-Obama wasn't a dazzling writer & MSM missed an item from his past?! #tcot

Gee, maybe the books Obama published that the MSM and media fawn over were heavily edited or ghost written? Maybe that's why Obama was never forthcoming about sharing his student papers and writings. Maybe he's not as amazing as advertised!

And, journalists overlooking items from Obama's past? Imagine that! Hilarious.

Written just months before Obama graduated, this is not exactly his best work, but it offers a new glimpse of his very conventional campus liberalism of the time.
awful prose from a guy who can clearly write suggests he didn't exactly put heart and soul into this one
It's pretty funny that a bunch of journalists hunting through the Columbiana archives didn't find this gemRead more at www.politico.com

Some economic sense compared to Obama's lunacy

Favorite lines:

"unfortunate when extreme exaggeration emanates from the White House"

"That's nonsense"

"classic example of what not to do during bad economic times"

"serious viewpoints are defined as only those that support his position"

"surprising how many numerically challenged pronouncements come from this most scripted and political of White Houses"

"revoking the laws of arithmetic"

Amplify’d from www.wallstreetjournal.com

A president's most valuable asset—with voters, Congress, allies and enemies—is credibility. So it is unfortunate when extreme exaggeration emanates from the White House.

President Obama says "every economist who's looked at it says that the Recovery Act has done its job"—i.e., the stimulus bill has turned the economy around. That's nonsense. Opinions differ widely and many leading economists believe that its impact has been small. Why? The expectation of future spending and future tax hikes to pay for the stimulus and Mr. Obama's vast expansion of government are offsetting the direct short-run expansionary effect. That is standard in all macroeconomic theories.

So, as I and others warned in 2008, the permanent government expansion and higher tax rate agenda is a classic example of what not to do during bad economic times. Worse yet, all the subsidies, bailouts, regulations and mandates are forcing noncommercial decisions on the economy, which now awaits literally thousands of new diktats as a result of things like ObamaCare and the financial reform bill. The uncertainty is impeding investment and hiring.

The president does not say that economists agree that the high future taxes to finance the stimulus will hurt the economy. (The University of Chicago's Harald Uhlig estimates $3.40 of lost output for every dollar of government spending.) Either the president is not being told of serious alternative viewpoints, or serious viewpoints are defined as only those that support his position. In either case, he is being ill-served by his staff.

It is surprising how many numerically challenged pronouncements come from this most scripted and political of White Houses. One slip is eventually forgiven, but when a pattern emerges, no one believes it is an accident.
The stimulus bill has assumed certain mystic powers in administration discourse, but revoking the laws of arithmetic shouldn't be one of them.
his staff needs to avoid putting these exaggerations on the teleprompter. It undermines confidence and raises concerns about competence. It's doing nobody any good—not the economy and certainly not Mr. Obama.Read more at www.wallstreetjournal.com

Millions for Road Signs? That's Stimulating? - $15 million project has only created 17 jobs!

I'd like to "Recover" some of that money! Nix that, ALL of that money!

Amplify’d from abcnews.go.com

On the road leading to Dulles Airport outside Washington, DC there's a 10' x 11' road sign touting a runway improvement project funded by the federal stimulus. The project cost nearly $15 million and has created 17 jobs, according to recovery.gov.

However, there's another number that caught the eye of ABC News: $10,000. That's how much money the Washington Airports Authority tells ABC News it spent to make and install the sign – a single sign – announcing that the project is "Funded by The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act" and is "Putting America Back to Work." The money for the sign was taken out of the budget for the runway improvement project.

Look out, Fail Whale! Amplify is like Twitter, but BETTER

Look out, Twitter!  We’ve seen the fail whale waaaaaay too often these past few weeks and people are starting to look into other ways to instantly share information online.  Enter Amplify, whose popularity has seemingly grown tremendously recently.  I’m definitely using it - I’d guess 90% of my Tweets in the last week were autoposted from Amplify.
Amplify is like Twitter, but better.  Here’s why:

-It has a Simple Bookmarklet that you drag and drop into your browser; when you are on a page you want to amplify, you click it and are immediately given the options to Clip This Page, Share the URL, Write a Post, and Microblog.
-Clip this page: When you’re reading an article and come across a great paragraph (or several paragraphs) that you simply can’t condense into 140 characters, you can clip exactly what you want, comment on it, and send it out - the title is used as your tweet
-Share the URL - Similar to Clip This Page except instead of attaching the paragraphs you clipped, just the url is attached
-Write a post: WYSIWYG - just like writing a blog post
-Microblog: Just like sending a Twitter update, but it gives you 500 characters

-Customization: Like Twitter you can post an avatar and background, but unlike Twitter, you can have all your social media links on your profile and add widgets, CSS, etc.
-Easy integration with other social media tools - you can choose for your Amp to auto post to Twitter, FB, Google Buzz, Posterous, Tumblr, Ping.fm, Plurk, Friendfeed, Diigo, Delicious and use your bit.ly account!
-You can also find friends who are using Amplify through Twitter, FB, and Google
.-Signing in and customizing your content from other tools is a breeze.

-And just this morning, I was thinking about how I wanted my Amps to post to my blog and in the afternoon, as if reading my mind, Amplify announced that it will now autopost to Blogger and Wordpress!!!

This is huge for me!  I’ve wanted to get back into blogging more but it’s hard for me to find the time.  A lot of what I blog is sharing articles and reacting to them - which is exactly what Amplify does!  So not only am I posting to Twitter and people who follow me as a source on Amplify, I’m also adding more frequent content to my blog.

Amplify is run by WordPress which is why it has so many great features and is so easy and familiar to use.  With the new ability to autopost to blogs, Amplify has the potential to reach millions more people and it makes me optimistic for future features and third party apps to come.  Top of my wishlist is lists for organizing your sources and a Tweetdeck-type application to view them.

So anyway, these are just SOME of the reasons Amplify is better than Twitter, and many other social media tools - I’m still learning and exploring the features and LOVING all the functionality!  I mean, Look at me, I’m actually sitting down to write a full blog post with NO links! So what are you waiting for?? Get Amped!

Dumb Dems' Job Ideas: Who's Crazier?

Via Ace of Spades and UK Guardian - Alvin Greene, the crazy jobless guy running for Senate in South Carolina has ideas on how to create jobs:

"Another thing we can do for jobs is make toys of me, especially for the holidays. Little dolls. Me. Like maybe little action dolls. Me in an army uniform, air force uniform, and me in my suit. They can make toys of me and my vehicle, especially for the holidays and Christmas for the kids. That's something that would create jobs. So you see I think out of the box like that. It's not something a typical person would bring up. That's something that could happen, that makes sense. It's not a joke."

Now, before you laugh (and I'm assuming the reporter was laughing and that's why Greene said, "It's not a joke.") is that any crazier than current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi saying that sending checks to the unemployed is one of the fastest ways to create jobs?

My Top 5 Must Reads of the Day 7/7/10

  1. Study Confirms Abortion Triples Breast Cancer Risk Among Sri Lanka Women LifeNews

  2. The Sri Lankan study is the fourth epidemiological study in fourteen months to report an abortion-breast cancer link, including studies from the U.S., China and Turkey.

The studies are piling up. How long will the pro-aborts be able to continue to keep this quiet? Thought they cared about women's lives (yeah right!)

  3. The Arabs on Iran WSJ
The U.A.E. ambassador tells the truth

  4. Mr. Otaiba added that "There are many countries in the region who, if they lack the assurance the U.S. is willing to confront Iran, they will start running for cover towards Iran." He also tossed some skepticism at the idea, fashionable in Washington, that Iran can be deterred or contained if it gets a bomb. That's hardly credible if the West fails to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power after so many declarations that such an outcome was unacceptable.

Hmmm, maybe this will get Obama's attention: "Come on, Obama, if you want to be liked in the Arab world, you have to protect us all from Iran's nuclear ambitions!"

  5. The Elite Turn Against Obama Daily Beast By Lloyd Grove

  6. “The curse of longterm unemployment is that if you pay people to do nothing, they’ll find themselves doing nothing for very long periods of time,” Ferguson said. “Long-term unemployment is at an all-time high in the United States, and it is a direct consequence of a misconceived public policy.” ... Zuckerman said. “The real problem we have…are some of the worst economic policies in place today that, in my judgment, go directly against the long-term interests of this country.”

Got that, Nancy? Unemployment benefits do NOT create jobs!!! Obamanomics FAIL

  7. Democrats digging harder than ever for dirt on Republicans Washington Post

  8. Democratic leaders are trying to frame the November midterm elections not as a national referendum on the party in power but as local choices between two candidates. "We can win the contrast, but not the referendum," Democratic strategist Steve Murphy said. "What is critical in this election cycle is for Democratic candidates to hold Republican candidates accountable for their views."

This story REEKS of desperation!  Dems know their brand is weak.

  9. Drug lobby showers money on its hero Harry Reid Washington Examiner

  10. And while the TV spot makes only passing reference to the health care bill passed in March, there's no doubt this ad buy -- and the rest of the drug industry's generosity toward Harry Reid -- is a big thank you for the corporate-welfare "reform" bill that Reid shepherded through the Senate.

And yet somehow the Democrats are able to peg us as the party of Big PHRMA! ...and Big everything else...

My Top 5 Must Reads of the Day 7/6/10

  1. Son pleads for help as mother awaits stoning in Iran CNN

  2. "Legally, it's all over, and we have no chance. It's a done deal. Sakine can be stoned at any minute. But we have experienced again and again that when we organize events world-wide, when we protest world-wide, and in particular when we contact European governments and these governments put pressure on the Islamic regime in Iran, sometimes we have a chance."

This needs more attention!!! It really makes you appreciate the rights and freedoms we have in America - including the double jeopardy rule in the 5th Amendment.

  3. Arizona Dems contest Obama's assertions on border security
  4. The Hill

“The crisis on America’s borders won’t be addressed with words,” said [Dem Rep.] Giffords. “I was disappointed to hear the president give short shrift to border security concerns by saying that our nation’s southern border is more secure today than at any time in the past 20 years. “That is not a sign of progress, it is a statement on the poor job we have done in securing the border for the past two decades.”

Even Democrats know Obama is "just words." Too bad the teleprompter can't jump into action!

  5. NASA Chief: Next Frontier Better Relations With Muslim World FOXNews

  6. "When I became the NASA administrator -- or before I became the NASA administrator -- he charged me with three things...third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering," Bolden said in the interview.

NASA = Now About Self-esteem for Arabs. BTW, he gave this interview to Al-Jazeera.

  7. Barack Obama: The great jobs killer Las Vegas Review Journal
  8. By Wayne Allyn Root

This "community organizer" knows as much about private-sector jobs as Pamela Anderson knows about nuclear physics. It's time to call Obama what he is: The Great Jobs Killer. With his massive spending and tax hikes -- rewarding big government and big unions, while punishing taxpayers and business owners -- Obama has killed jobs, he has killed motivation to create new jobs, he has killed the motivation to invest in new businesses, or expand old ones.

And they call him Barak the Knife.  With all his complaining about the economy he "inherited," what exactly does Obama think he will leave to his own successor?

  9. The Massachusetts Health-Care 'Train Wreck'
  10. The future of ObamaCare is unfolding here: runaway spending, price controls, even limits on care and medical licensing. WSJ
    By Joseph Rago

As events are now unfolding, the Massachusetts plan couldn't be a more damning indictment of ObamaCare. The state's universal health-care prototype is growing more dysfunctional by the day, which is the inevitable result of a health system dominated by politics. ...The deeper problem is that price controls seem to be the only way the political class can salvage a program that was supposed to reduce spending and manifestly has not. Massachusetts now has the highest average premiums in the nation.
Read it and weep at what ObamaCare has in store for our country.

My Top 5 Must Reads of the Day 7/1/10

  1. Six Months to Go Until The Largest Tax Hikes in History ATR

  2. In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These will all expire on January 1, 2011
Just what we need during a recession - thank you Obama and Democrats!

  3. Gunfire hitting City Hall prompts Texas AG to ask for more troops on border El Paso Times

  4. "More than 1,300 people have been murdered in Juárez this year as a war continues relentlessly between the Juárez and Sinaloa drug cartels," he told Obama. He also said the "time for talk has passed."
The number of people being killed in the drug war is staggering, meanwhile Obama gives a speech to mollify his pro-amnesty base.

  5. Florida school district bans Bibles on Religious Freedom Day Orlando Sentinel

  6. “How sad that on the eve of Independence Day, when we celebrate the religious and political freedom our forefathers won for us at the cost of much blood and great sacrifice, we are compelled to sue to protect the right simply to make free Bibles available to students in public schools,” said Mathew D. Staver, Liberty Counsel founder.
Sad indeed. But typical of public schools.

  7. Supreme Court gun rights ruling will add to death toll The Hill
  8. By Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.)

Amid one of the most violent and deadly summers Chicago has ever experienced, in which only the last few weeks have seen shootings that left 81 wounded and 13 dead, the Supreme Court ruled on Monday that an almost 30-year-old citywide ban on handgun ownership is unconstitutional.
Yeah, um, cuz that gun ban thing y'all have going is working out so well for ya!

  9. Crist says no hookers on Bahamas trip Tampa Bay Times

  10. Beth Kigel, a lobbyist, fundraiser and member of the state party executive committee from Palm Beach County, told investigators she had heard about a men-only trip to the Bahamas and that "women were involved and paid."
Threw that one in there just for fun!
