FINALLY! Dubya Rated Higher than Obama

This article was originally published on The Political Insider:

Yeesh, it took 6 years, but FINALLY people are opening their eyes about Obama and realizing George W. wasn’t nearly as bad as conventional wisdom has been saying. This is the first time Dubya has been over 50% in a Gallup poll since 2005, and it’s the lowest Obama has ever been.

Maybe it’s the way Obama’s losing Iraq to terrorists, or the humanitarian crisis on our southern border caused by Obama pushing for amnesty, or the way our veterans are left to die waiting for government-run health care, or the failure of Obamacare, or the IRS targeting political opponents and “losing” evidence, or the first assassination of U.S. ambassador since 1979 in Benghazi, or … I could go on for days!

Here are the full poll results:

Somewhat surprisingly, George H. W. Bush is neck and neck with Clinton. It’s gotta be the socks.

VIDEO: Bush on Leno

I LOVED seeing President George W. Bush on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night! Bush had some great lines, it's really must-see. It was so good to see him doing well - I really miss him!

Funny, engaging, caring, classy - what an honor to have him as president!

Dubya shows some of his paintings - there's a Rembrandt inside him! - and gives Leno a portrait.

The Bushes were on the Kiss Cam at the Houston Texans game. Dubya on bonding with his grandchild: "It was a little slow at first because the kid doesn't say much."

President & Mrs. Bush talk about their work in Africa refurbishing clinics - bonus Dubya dance footage!!!

Now, back to your regularly scheduled Obama misery ...

A Tale of Two Gulf Disaster Responses

Look what I found buried at the end of this ABC article entitled BP Oil Spill: As Pay Czar Promises Money, Workers Turned Away From BP Claims Center

Regulations Hold Up Needed Supplies

But why aren't those larger skimmers already here, eight weeks into the disaster?

"One of the challenges we have is the regulatory scheme," said Laferriere.

A law from the 1920s called the Jones Act stands in the way, declaring that the Coast Guard has to use only American vessels.
The Coast Guard ran into the same problem after Hurricane Katrina, but it took just a week to get around it.

"We had to work with the president and Adm. Allen to get the Jones Act waived," said Laferriere.

The international skimmers are now expected to arrive on the Gulf Coast in July.

Hmm, so it took President Bush a week to wave the law to help Katrina victims; the BP spill happened April 20, and the needed supplies won't arrive until July.  Bush - 1 week; Obama - 2+ months.  'Nuf said.

Luvya Dubya!

'I'd do it again' former President Bush tells Grand Rapids crowd about waterboarding terrorists

BAD. ASS.

Love-love-LOVED this article about Dubya's appearance in Michigan.  Some excellent quotes that really make me miss him:

"Yeah, we water-boarded Khalid Sheikh Mohammed...I'd do it again to save lives."

"Getting rid of Saddam Hussein was the right thing to do and the world is a better place without him"

"You are not going to see me in the public square criticizing the president."

"I prayed a lot. I really did. I prayed before every major speech. I prayed before debates. It was a very important experience."

Can't wait to read his book!

Change You Can Believe In: Obamateur Hour

The UK Telegraph today had a devastating article on how the Obama Administration is neglecting foreign policy, especially our special relationship with Britain. I thought Obama was going to restore our image in the world and improve our relations with other nations? Maybe that's only for our enemies and our best allies will fall by the wayside.

Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

These are the types of slips and slights that happen with an inexperienced and overwhelmed administration.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Oh, excellent, the Obama team doesn't have any time for foreign policy and diplomacy!

...A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

He's doing such a great job on the domestic front, we can forgive him for ignoring foreign policy, the sole domain of the Executive Branch.

A British official conceded that the furore surrounding the apparent snub to Mr Brown had come as a shock to the White House. "I think it's right to say that their focus is elsewhere, on domestic affairs. A number of our US interlocutors said they couldn't quite understand the British concerns and didn't get what that was all about."

I thought diplomacy, dialogue and symbolic gestures were what Obama's foreign policy strategy was all about. How hard is it to find out what is appropriate and expected when important foreign dignitaries visit?! How do you manage tick off our best ally?!

The American source said: "Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda.

"That was the gamble these guys made at the front end of this presidency and I think they're finding it a hard thing to do everything."

And yet the American voters thought it would be a good idea to elect such an immature, unproven and untested person during such an important time in history. Experience and proven results do matter!

...But they concede that the mood music of the event was at times strained. Mr Brown handed over carefully selected gifts, including a pen holder made from the wood of a warship that helped stamp out the slave trade - a sister ship of the vessel from which timbers were taken to build Mr Obama's Oval Office desk. Mr Obama's gift in return, a collection of Hollywood film DVDs that could have been bought from any high street store, looked like the kind of thing the White House might hand out to the visiting head of a minor African state.

Who is in charge of gifts?! They should be fired with this and the "reset" button disaster with Russia.

...The real views of many in Obama administration were laid bare by a State Department official involved in planning the Brown visit, who reacted with fury when questioned by The Sunday Telegraph about why the event was so low-key.

The official dismissed any notion of the special relationship, saying: "There's nothing special about Britain. You're just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn't expect special treatment." The apparent lack of attention to detail by the Obama administration is indicative of what many believe to be Mr Obama's determination to do too much too quickly.

Wow, sounds like someone screwed up and is trying to deflect the blame! I can't believe a nameless official at the State Dept would make such an outrageous statement denigrating our best ally to a British newspaper! Another person to fire. The administration should immediately apologize and explain this offensive statement.

...The Sunday Telegraph understands that one of Mr Obama's most prominent African American backers, whose endorsement he spent two years cultivating, has told friends that he detects a weakness in Mr Obama's character.

"The one real serious flaw I see in Barack Obama is that he thinks he can manage all this," the well-known figure told a Washington official, who spoke to this newspaper. "He's underestimating the flood of things that will hit his desk."

That's certainly not Obama's
only character flaw, but it may signal a ticking time bomb ready to go off and sink his presidency and the country with the next crisis.

The Obama presidency has been a failure so far on the foreign policy front (as well as domestic). In the coming days, I will highlight recent articles that vindicate Bush and show gaffes and screw ups of Obama, while antagonizing our friends, and attempting to placate our insatiable enemies. Stay tuned.

Obama Irony: So Far, Worse Than Bush

Great piece By Victor Davis Hanson:
The Audacity of Irony

Some choice excerpts:

But unlike the Bush administration, which took 15 months to prepare the country for a real war in Iraq, the Obama administration gave the public only a few hours to read the final draft of the legislation before it was made into law. Where the polarizing partisan George Bush managed to obtain the vote of majorities in both parties to remove Saddam Hussein, the healing bipartisan Barack Obama lacked the support of even a single Republican in the House and won over a mere three Republicans in the Senate.

Liberals who once screamed that congressional opponents of the Iraq war were being unfairly tagged as unpatriotic by the Bush administration now yelled louder that the opponents of the Obama debt program were, in fact, unpatriotic.

Bush was pilloried for supposedly hyping al-Qaeda in order to create a security state. Obama trumped that by proclaiming that the present recession is a catastrophe, a disaster, a Great Depression. He ceased his scare-mongering only when he had exhausted the vocabulary of doom. “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste,” bragged Rahm Emanuel, reminding us that the envisioned Obama socialism could take root only if a climate of fear was created.

...Obama can end his irony only when he accepts that he and his supporters were never saints, and his predecessor not a notable sinner, and then accepts that history will judge him on what he does rather than what he says he might do.

I also enjoy how Obama keeps saying that he inherited the economic crisis, deficit, and debt while proceeding to make the crisis worse, double the deficit, and skyrocket the debt.

Obama set to lower our standing in the world

So, how's Obama doing in his quest to "improve our standing in the world?"

Well, let's take a look at 2 headlines today from the Financial Times:

EU issues warning over Buy America plan

The European Union has warned of possible trade litigation against the US if Washington presses ahead with a Buy American provision in its forthcoming economic stimulus bill.

EU officials have expressed concern that the requirement for companies to use US steel and manufacturing products in projects funded by the bill could encourage a wave of protectionist measures from other countries.

The European Commission says it will examine any legislation to determine whether it violates a World Trade Organisation treaty signed by the US, EU and Japan. Signatories of the Government Procurement Agreement must open government contracts to foreign companies.
Is Obama set to start a trade uproar with global implications?

India warns Obama over Kashmir

India has warned US President Barack Obama that he risks “barking up the wrong tree” if he seeks to broker a settlement between Pakistan and India over the disputed territory of Kashmir.

MK Narayanan, India’s national security advisor, said that the new US administration was in danger of dredging up out of date Clinton administration-era strategies in a bid to bring about improved ties between the two nuclear armed neighbours.

...“It’s possible that at this time there are elements, perhaps in the administration who are harking back to the pre-2000 era.”
Some countries DON'T want to go back to the pre-2000 era?! This must be shocking news to liberals!

Two things Bush never got credit for (among MANY) - our leadership in free trade and improved relations with India - that Obama is trying to reverse.

That's certainly change, but hope it ain't.

A Tale of Two Inaugurals

This is so ridiculous and just futher shows the hypocrisy and bias of the media!

From NewsBusters:
AP Slammed Bush’s ‘Extravagant’ Inaugural in ’05, But Now It’s Spend, Baby, Spend

From 2005:

Slate: Giving Bush a pass -- again
The D.C. press corps failed to ask hard questions about the inauguration's huge cost and its unprecedented security.

AP: Some Now Question Cost of Inauguration
President Bush's second inauguration will cost tens of millions of dollars — $40 million alone in private donations for the balls, parade and other invitation-only parties. With that kind of money, what could you buy?

_200 armored Humvees with the best armor for troops in Iraq.

_Vaccinations and preventive health care for 22 million children in regions devastated by the tsunami.

_A down payment on the nation's deficit, which hit a record-breaking $412 billion last year.

_Two years' salary for the Mets' new center fielder Carlos Beltran, or all of pitcher Randy Johnson's contract extension with the New York Yankees.

ABC and AP Focus on Those Upset by Bush's "Lavish" Inauguration (AP Article above)
ABC anchor Terry Moran teased at the top of Sunday's World News Tonight: "In a time of war and natural disaster, is it time for a lavish celebration?"

2009:
Compare all this to today, when we are still in a war and our economy is actually in shambles (as opposed to the dire warnings of recession we heard for 6 years straight from the media that never materialized until now):

For inaugural balls, go for glitz, forget economy
So you're attending an inaugural ball saluting the historic election of Barack Obama in the worst economic climate in three generations. Can you get away with glitzing it up and still be appropriate, not to mention comfortable and financially viable?

To quote the man of the hour: Yes, you can. Veteran ballgoers say you should. And fashionistas insist that you must.

"This is a time to celebrate. This is a great moment. Do not dress down. Do not wear the Washington uniform," said Tim Gunn, a native Washingtonian and Chief Creative Officer at Liz Claiborne, Inc.

At least the Brits are noticing the juxtaposition:
Bush declares a 'state of emergency' in Washington as cost of Obama's swearing-in ceremony soars to £110m

I get it, Pres. Bush winning reelection wasn't worth celebrating but Obama is because that's who the media wanted to win.
