HEADLINE OF THE DAY: Inmate Hid 30 Items in Rectum

Had to come out of blogging hibernation for this one:

Inmate Hid 30 Items in Rectum: Jailer

As Ron Burgundy would say, "I'm not even mad, that's AMAZING!"

It gets better:

Inside the condom they found: 17 blue pills, a cigarette, a flint, six matches, an empty syringe with a pencil eraser over the needle tip, a container of lip balm, an unused condom, a pharmacy receipt and a coupon.

REALLY?  A pharmacy coupon???  Just in case he wanted to return something later?!  And what was the coupon for?!!

Poor Lesbos

Lesbos locals lose lesbian appeal

Three residents of the Greek island of Lesbos have lost an attempt to ban the use of the word "lesbian" to describe gay women.

The residents argued that using the term in reference to gay women insulted their identity.

But an Athens court ruled there was no justification for their contention that they felt slighted, saying the word did not define the islanders' identity.

..."This is a good decision for lesbians everywhere," Vassilis Chirdaris, lawyer for the Gay and Lesbian Union of Greece, told Reuters news agency.

...The man spearheading the case, publisher Dimitris Lambrou, had claimed that international dominance of the word in its sexual context violated the human rights of the islanders - who call themselves Lesbians - and disgraces them around the world.

He argued it caused daily problems to the social life of Lesbos's inhabitants.

World's Creepiest Dad

'World's Greatest Dad' Arrested As Predator

A man whose shirt proclaims him as the "world's greatest dad" has been arrested on charges he tried to use the internet to arrange a sexual encounter with a minor. He was caught in one of Attorney General Mike Cox's cyber stings.

..."Today's arrest is a reminder that a parent can pose a threat to our children," said Cox. "And no matter how "great" a criminal thinks they are, if you intend to harm or solicit children, my office is coming after you."

UPDATE: The Smoking Gun has posted a collection of mug shots with people wearing more ironic t-shirts

Caution: Feminist at Work

In the mold of the early suffragettes who risked everything to give women the right to vote, this woman courageously stood up to the oppressive patriarchy to demand a woman's right to full and equal representation ... on road work signs...

In the battle of the sexes, women's magazine editor Cynthia Good said this was a skirmish she had to fight.

Across Atlanta they stood, orange signs with black letters that read "Men At Work" or "Men Working Ahead."

Sometimes, the signs stood next to women working alongside the men.

Good demanded Atlanta officials remove the signs and last week, Atlanta Public Works Commissioner Joe Basista agreed.

Score one for gender equality, Good said Wednesday.

Public Works officials are replacing 50 "Men Working" with signs that say "Workers Ahead." It will cost $22 to cover over some of the old signs and $144 to buy new signs, said Public Works spokeswoman Valerie Bell-Smith said.

..."We're calling on the rest of the nation to follow suit and make a statement that we will not accept these subtle forms of discrimination," said Good, 48.

Baby Racists

Claim: Kids who say 'yuck' may be racist

Toddlers who say "yuck" when given flavorful foreign food may be exhibiting racist behavior, a British government-sponsored organization says.

The London-based National Children's Bureau released a 366-page guide counseling adults on recognizing racist behavior in young children, The Telegraph reported Monday.

The guide, titled Young Children and Racial Justice, warns adults that babies must also be included in the effort to eliminate racism because they have the ability to "recognize different people in their lives."

The bureau says to be aware of children who "react negatively to a culinary tradition other than their own by saying 'yuck'."

"Racist incidents among children in early years settings tend to be around name-calling, casual thoughtless comments and peer group relationships," the guide says.

Staff members are advised not to ignore racist actions and to condemn them when they occur.

Now babies aren't allowed to express preferences in food?! Is there anything left in this world that is NOT racist?

LOL

State offers free replacements for 'WTF' license plates

Thanks to some text message-savvy grandchildren, N.C. drivers whose license plates have the potentially offensive "WTF" letter combination can replace the tags.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Tuesday the state Division of Motor Vehicles has notified nearly 10,000 holders of license plates with the letter combination. Officials learned last year the common acronym stands for a vulgar phrase in e-mail and cell phone text messages.

But this week, the DMV officials got another surprise when they learned the same letters appeared on the agency's own Web site on a sample personalized plate.

...A 60-year-old technology teacher from Fayetteville complained about the plate last July after her teenage grandchildren clued her in.

The latest fashion craze

Now you, too, can wear the hot fashions of the FLDS ladies as seen on tv!

FLDS fashions for kids sold on enterprising Web site

A new clothing brand may be born out of the Texas raid on a polygamous sect.

FLDS women for the first time are offering their handmade, distinctive style of children's clothes to the public through the Web site fldsdress.com.

Launched initially to provide Texas authorities with clothing for FLDS children in custody, the online store now is aimed at helping their mothers earn a living.

The venture, which has already drawn queries from throughout the U.S., is banking on interest in modest clothes, curiosity and charity to be a success.

"We don't know what to expect on demand but we have had a flood of interest," said Maggie Jessop, a member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Red Light District on the Red Line

That's my metro stop!

Metro workers snagged in sex sting
A Metro station manager and a Metro custodian were arrested on prostitution charges after an undercover transit police investigation found they arranged sexual trysts for money from inside the Dupont Circle Metro station.

At one point the employees used the Metro loudspeaker system to facilitate an illicit sexual arrangement, according to police who arrested the pair last week.

Sharon Waters, a Red Line station manager, told an undercover police officer at the Dupont Circle station June 4 that she could arrange meetings with local prostitutes for him, according to court documents.

Humans Before Apes

Spanish parliament to extend rights to apes

Spain's parliament voiced its support on Wednesday for the rights of great apes to life and freedom in what will apparently be the first time any national legislature has called for such rights for non-humans.

How about extending rights for ALL humans first? Like the unborn and those who have suffered from debilitating brain damage?

Extreme Ironing

Man 'kidnapped ex-girlfriend to do ironing'

A man has been arrested over the kidnap of his ex-girlfriend after he allegedly forced her into his home - and ordered her to do the ironing.

The 43-year-old Italian apparently dragged the woman out of a bar in the port city of Genoa in the north of the country and pushed her into his car, before taking her back to his house.

Once there, he threatened to hurt her before making her iron his clothes and do the washing up, police said.

Officers were called to the property by a friend of the woman who saw the scene unfold at the bar.

Babies Mamas

I used to live the next town over from Gloucester (pronounced Glaw-ster)

As summer vacation begins, 17 girls at Gloucester High School are expecting babies—more than four times the number of pregnancies the 1,200-student school had last year.

...School officials started looking into the matter as early as October after an unusual number of girls began filing into the school clinic to find out if they were pregnant. By May, several students had returned multiple times to get pregnancy tests, and on hearing the results, "some girls seemed more upset when they weren't pregnant than when they were," Sullivan says. All it took was a few simple questions before nearly half the expecting students, none older than 16, confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Then the story got worse. "We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy," the principal says, shaking his head.

Watch out for cars with bumper stickers.

That's the surprising conclusion of a recent study by Colorado State University social psychologist William Szlemko. Drivers of cars with bumper stickers, window decals, personalized license plates and other "territorial markers" not only get mad when someone cuts in their lane or is slow to respond to a changed traffic light, but they are far more likely than those who do not personalize their cars to use their vehicles to express rage -- by honking, tailgating and other aggressive behavior.

That picture is of my first car, may she rest in peace. I went a little overboard with the stickers #1. because it was an old car so I didn't need to worry too much about keeping it nice for the next person and #2. it was right after Sept. 11

Here's my current car except the plates have changed and somebody stole my "W" magnet since then:

I am an aggressive driver, but I never thought it was my bumper stickers that gave me away, I thought it was the MA plates!

It's interesting that people with stuff on their cars would be more aggressive - I actually tried to be more careful because I knew if I did anything flagrant my car would be easily identifiable to authorities.

I prefer the word "assertive." It is important to be assertive if you want to get where you are going quickly. Some recent gripes:
  • Don't dally at intersections when you see the walk signal counting down - make sure you get through without getting stuck at a red light.
  • Don't let everyone and their mother go ahead of you at a 4 way stop - when it's your turn GO!
  • Don't stop for pedestrians in the middle of a four lane road - they aren't using a cross walk and it's dangerous if the driver next to you goes flying by as they are crossing in front of your car.
  • Don't stop at a Yield sign in light traffic - they decided not to put a Stop sign there for a reason.

I am even assertive in the Metro - I say "Excuse me" when someone is standing on the left side of the escalator so us walkers can keep going. Instead of slowing down and hesitating, allowing people to go in front of me when a crowd is funneling onto the escalator, I step up and take advantage of people's deference to get on the escalator quickly.

I am never so aggressive that I get into an altercation - I am too afraid of someone attacking me. But being assertive usually gets you want you want - and I like that!

Super Theft

Nice ring, but I think it would look better with rubies and sapphires to give it color.

Giants Super Bowl Rings Stolen In Attleboro Heist

Police say New York Giants Super Bowl rings were among the $2 million worth of items stolen from an Attleboro jewelry company sometime over the weekend.

Thieves disabled the alarm system at E.A. Dion's building on Franklin McKay Drive, cut a hole in the roof and made off with a safe that weighed at least 1,000 pounds. It held the rings, gold, and gems.

...The Super Bowl rings, which were manufactured by the company, were to be given to the Giants staff to commemorate New York's 17-14 win over the New England Patriots in February, team spokesman Pat Hanlon said.

The white gold rings -- which were designed by Tiffany and Co. and valued at $25,000 -- were exactly the same as the ones players and coaches received last month.

The team's "NY" logo is set in round diamonds, while "World Champions" is emblazoned in raised letters on the top and bottom bezel, with channel-set diamonds on the left and right bezel. The rings also feature the team's three Super Bowl trophies.
Wait a minute, the Giants' Super Bowl rings were stolen in Massachusetts? I blame Patriots fans!

Caution: Falling Hats

University bans graduating students from throwing their mortar boards in the air in case someone gets hurt

But now students at one university have been banned from throwing their mortar boards in the air at graduation ceremonies because of health and safety fears.

Bosses at Anglia Ruskin University say a student could be seriously injured by the corner of one of the square caps.

They say ending the tradition will also protect the mortar boards themselves from damage.

One student needed stitches a few years ago after he was hit on the head at a ceremony, according to the university, although there have been no other incidents. No legal action was taken.

Student union president Frankie Whiffen said: 'It sounds like health and safety gone mad.

'It's an important tradition and who is going to go round stopping it anyway - the hat police? ...

Laura Midgley, of the Campaign Against Political Correctness, said: 'The likelihood of being injured by a flying hat appears to be very low.

'The students are far more likely to be injured on their way to and from the ceremony - especially if they are travelling in cars which are known to kill thousands every year.

So with this logic, the whole ceremony should be cancelled.

Wow! The "Campaign Against Political Correctness!" How do I join and how do I set up a U.S. chapter?!

The Berkeley Witch Project

Code Pink Protesters Try Witchcraft at Anti-Marine Rallies

Code Pink is now resorting to witchcraft to beef up the number of its supporters protesting Berkeley's controversial Marine Corps Recruiting Center.

The women's anti-war group has told ralliers to come equipped with spells and pointy hats Friday for "Witches, clowns and sirens day," the last of the group's weeklong homage to Mother's Day.

"Women are coming to cast spells and do rituals and to impart wisdom to figure out how we're going to end war," Zanne Sam Joi of Bay Area Code Pink told FOXNews.com.

The group's week of themed protests, which included days to galvanize grannies and bring-your-daughter-to-protest, appears to have done little to boost its flagging numbers.

A FOX News camera, which has a 24/7 live shot of the recruiting center's front door, recorded little action, and the gatherings have, until this point, been ill attended.

...On Tuesday, Code Pink's theme was "Fierce mothers raging against war," Joi said, to talk about all the mothers killed and raped in war. Wednesday's theme was "Bring your daughter to the protest," where daughters explanied why they don't want their parents fighting the war. Thursday is "Sisters don't allow sisters to live in war zones" day, and the week wraps up Friday with "Witches, clowns and sirens day."

And next week to add numbers they'll bring in the homeless

Now THAT's Penis Envy!

Penis theft panic hits city

Police in Congo have arrested 13 suspected sorcerers accused of using black magic to steal or shrink men's penises after a wave of panic and attempted lynchings triggered by the alleged witchcraft.

...Purported victims, 14 of whom were also detained by police, claimed that sorcerers simply touched them to make their genitals shrink or disappear, in what some residents said was an attempt to extort cash with the promise of a cure.

...Police arrested the accused sorcerers and their victims in an effort to avoid the sort of bloodshed seen in Ghana a decade ago, when 12 suspected penis snatchers were beaten to death by angry mobs. The 27 men have since been released.

"I'm tempted to say it's one huge joke," Oleko said.

"But when you try to tell the victims that their penises are still there, they tell you that it's become tiny or that they've become impotent. To that I tell them, 'How do you know if you haven't gone home and tried it'," he said.

..."It's real. Just yesterday here, there was a man who was a victim. We saw. What was left was tiny," said 29-year-old Alain Kalala, who sells phone credits near a Kinshasa police station.

[Ever think maybe it was tiny to begin with?]

Dick Cheney Eyes a Naked Woman

Here's a funny picture that's been making the rounds on the web:

Doesn't it look like there's a naked woman reflected in Dick Cheney's sunglasses?!

McClatchy gets to the bottom of it:
Is that really a naked woman in Dick Cheney's sunglasses?

So McClatchy/Tribune Information Services photo editor George Bridges used the latest digital technology to enlarge the picture, took a close look at Cheney's sunglasses and concluded that Mitchell was telling the truth.

The image is of the vice president's hand on his fly rod.

"In one lens of his sunglasses you can clearly tell it is a sleeved arm of Cheney or a fishing companion. The other lens has an extreme distortion that, without looking at it closely, could be misconstrued," said investigative photo editor Bridges.

No more monkeys jumping on the . . . tree!

This is just INSANE!!!

Obama Delegate Resigns After Remark

An Illinois delegate for Democratic Sen. Barack Obama resigned after using the word "monkeys" to describe black children playing in a tree, the Obama campaign said Tuesday.

Linda Ramirez-Sliwinski, a trustee in the Chicago suburb of Carpentersville, was issued a $75 ticket for disorderly conduct after neighbors complained to police. She says the word wasn't meant racially and she will fight the ticket.

"Given the incident, Linda Ramirez-Sliwinski is stepping down as a delegate and will be replaced," said Obama spokeswoman Amy Brundage.

The incident occurred Saturday, when two children were playing in a tree next door to Ramirez-Sliwinski's house.

She said the parents were outside supervising the children, but she went over and told them to get out of the tree because she was concerned about the boys' safety and because the small magnolia tree was being damaged.

The father of one of the boys told her it was none of her business, she told the Chicago Tribune, and "I calmly said the tree is not there for them to be climbing in there like monkeys."

The mother of one boy called police.

Cmdr. Michael Kilbourne said Tuesday a ticket was issued because the ordinance bans conduct that disturbs or alarms people. One of the boys told police he was scared by her comment and a mother said she was disturbed, he said.

I understand that the word "monkey" can be used in a derogatory way toward African Americans, but considering the context - children playing in TREES - that does not seem to be the intent. Unless there is way more to the story than is reported this hardly seems like "conduct that disturbs or alarms people." First of all, it's language, not conduct, and second of all, it seems like the woman could have called the police on the family because the safety of the children and the health of the tree disturbed and alarmed her.

On top of that, who the heck calls the POLICE after a brief verbal confrontation with a neighbor?! What kind of policeman actually issues a TICKET?! And what kind of a community allows the thought police to fine free speech?! INSANITY!!!
