Idiot Pelosi Passes Buck on Energy Mess HER Party Continues to Prolong

Pelosi stands firm against offshore drilling

"The president of the United States, with gas at $4 a gallon because of his failed energy policies, is now trying to say that is because I couldn't drill offshore," Pelosi said in an interview. "That is not the cause, and I am not going to let him get away with it."

Because of HIS failed energy policies? Now that's the pot calling the kettle black! Who's the one raising taxes on productive oil companies, increasing ethanol mandates to the detriment of the world's poor and hungry, micromanaging the energy industry, and blocking oil exploration, Mrs. Pelosi? Which party came into office in 2006 claiming they were going to reduce energy prices and lo and behold, the price of gas went from $2.23/gal. in November 2006 to $4.10/gal. today?!

Drill, drill, drill and oil prices will come down!

Kick the Democrats out of office and they will come down even further!

5-4?!

Are you kidding me?!?! Only 5 out of 9 justices can read an explicit sentence in the Constitution?! This should have been an easy 9-0 decision. If Obama is elected and gets to appoint more justices, I weep for the future.

Supreme Court says Americans have right to guns
Well, the Supreme Court said it so that makes it so, right liberals? Just like "fundamental human right" to abortion and sodomy? Oh, wait, those aren't actually IN the Constitution...

District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty responded with a plan to require residents of the nation's capital to register their handguns. "More handguns in the District of Columbia will only lead to more handgun violence," Fenty said.

Riiiiight. Because DC is such a violence-free paradise right now without guns. This is mind boggling. It has been established in study after study that more guns = less crime

In a dissent he summarized from the bench, Justice John Paul Stevens wrote that the majority "would have us believe that over 200 years ago, the Framers made a choice to limit the tools available to elected officials wishing to regulate civilian uses of weapons."

Oh, really, yet, Justice Stevens, you "would have us believe that over 200 years ago, the Framers made a choice to limit the tools available to elected officials wishing to regulate" abortion.

He said such evidence "is nowhere to be found."

Yeah, those Framers really just had so much faith and trust in government, they wanted to give elected officials as many possible tools to regulate civilian activity. Just like their pal King George! IDIOT!

Justice Stephen Breyer wrote a separate dissent in which he said, "In my view, there simply is no untouchable constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment to keep loaded handguns in the house in crime-ridden urban areas."

Well, how come in your view there IS an untouchable constitutional right guaranteed to abortion - never once even remotely mentioned by the Founders, never mind in the Constitution?!

Who do you think now keeps loaded handguns in the house in crime-ridden urban areas? Does he honestly think that just because there was a DC gun ban that no one had guns in DC? And that now all of a sudden criminals are going to come out of the woodwork to register their guns so that they can be prosecuted for past and future crimes?!

Chicago mayor Richard Daley said he didn't know how the high court ruling would affect the city, but said that the ruling was "a very frightening decision." He predicted an end to Chicago's handgun ban would spark new violence and force the city to raise taxes to pay for new police.

What's really very frightening is that your city was the country's "Murder Capital" in 2003. Good job, gun ban! Way to sacrifice human victims for the cause!

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., a leading gun control advocate in Congress, criticized the ruling. "I believe the people of this great country will be less safe because of it," she said.

The country will only be more safe if they can defend themselves from criminals.

The comments from public officials are astoundingly stupid considering that since at least 2001 the city with the most murders has also "coincidentally" also had a gun ban (or in Philadelphia's case a concealed carry ban) - Detroit, DC, Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia.

Just rationally think for a moment about what a gun ban actually does - it takes away guns from law-abiding citizens. Criminals and gangs do not just walk up to police officers and give up their guns. They know exactly how to get guns and they traffic them on the black market. It is pure fantasy to think a gun ban will mean fewer guns will be available for use in the commission of a crime.

And it's not as if no guns = no crime. In other countries where there are gun bans there are mass stabbing incidents. This leads to the shocking revelation that People Kill People

There is really a huge problem when I am 100 times smarter than 4 Supreme Court Justices and most politicians.

UPDATE:

Mayors: Gun ruling won't stop prevention efforts

"There are so many guns on the streets," said Pamela Bosely, a Chicago resident whose 18-year-old son Terrell was fatally shot in 2006. "If you didn't have the guns, we'd still have our children."

You're from CHICAGO! You HAVE a gun ban! And unfortunately it did nothing to protect your son.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! DAMMIT!!!!!

SON OF A BITCH!!!!!!

Fox: '24' won't start until 2009

Fans of the Fox drama "24" will have to wait until next January to see Jack Bauer again, this television season's most prominent casualty of the Hollywood writers strike.

The network has committed to air a full season on consecutive weeks, and had been planning to start last month. But if it had started airing new episodes soon, the season finale would not have taken place until the summer, when TV networks rarely show their high-profile programs.

Even though eight episodes for this season had already been filmed before the beginning of the writers strike, producers would have had to ramp up production soon to complete the season.

A January 2009 start seemed the best way to comply with viewers' wishes that a season's episodes run without interruption to conclusion, Fox said.

The company that produces the series, 20th Century Fox Television, also confirmed that creator Joel Surnow was leaving as one of the executive producers. [Uh-oh] Fox is owned by News Corp. ...

Why can't they start in Sept. like other shows and go without repeats?

Earth to Speaker Pelosi

Can anyone make sense of Nancy Pelosi's ramble (in bold)?

Pelosi calls Iraq a 'failure'
...
Pelosi’s comment came during a discussion of her call for “the redeployment of our troops out of Iraq.”

Anchor Wolf Blitzer asked: “Are you not worried, though, that all the gains that have been achieved over the past year might be lost?”

“There haven't been gains, Wolf,” the speaker replied. “The gains have not produced the desired effect, which is the reconciliation of Iraq. This is a failure. This is a failure. The troops have succeeded, God bless them. We owe them the greatest debt of gratitude for their sacrifice, their patriotism, and for their courage and to their families as well. ...

So she's saying: There haven't been gains, but the gains (of which there are none) have not produced the desired effect. The gains (which may or may not have happened, but certainly have not produced the desired effect) are a failure, but the troops have succeeded in this failure to get gains that haven't produced the desired effect. WHAT?!?!?!

Reason #9587 why I am ashamed to be from Massachusetts

I was looking into Ted Kennedy and Chappaquiddick on Wikipedia and for some reason I had always thought the "incident" had occurred when he was in his younger college days - a youthful indiscretion. Well, for those who don't know, here's the story in a nutshell:

In the summer of 1969, Ted Kennedy, the 37 year old Senate Majority Whip from MA, drove his car off a bridge after a party some time after 12:40am. Unfortunately, Mary Jo Kopechne was still inside after Ted managed to escape the car. Kennedy never called the police or for help and it wasn't until the next morning that some fishermen saw the car in the water and finally the police were called. I will now quote the rest from the Wikipedia page on the Chappaquiddick incident, which I recommend reading for more details on the senator's malfeasance:

The diver, John Farrar, would later testify at the inquest that Kopechne's body was pressed up in the car in the spot where an air bubble would have formed. He interpreted this to mean that Kopechne had survived for a while after the initial accident in the air bubble, and concluded that "Had I received a call within five to ten minutes of the accident occurring, and was able, as I was the following morning, to be at the victim's side within twenty-five minutes of receiving the call, in such event there is a strong possibility that she would have been alive on removal from the submerged car."

And Massachusetts has reelected him to the Senate ever since!

Kennedy turns his back on ALL women!

NY Feminists Accuse Kennedy of Betrayal

... "Women have just experienced the ultimate betrayal," NOW's New York State chapter said in a scorching rebuke. "Senator Kennedy's endorsement of Hillary Clinton's opponent in the Democratic presidential primary campaign has really hit women hard."

On Monday, Kennedy, D-Mass., his son Patrick and his niece Caroline Kennedy announced their support for Obama. Edward Kennedy said the country needs a leader who can bring people together and create change.

But the move angered the state chapter of NOW, which called Kennedy's decision the "greatest betrayal."

"We are repaid with his abandonment!" the statement said. "He's picked the new guy over us. He's joined the list of progressive white men who can't or won't handle the prospect of a woman president who is Hillary Clinton."

The group said it was our obligation to "elect, unabashedly, a president that is the first woman after centuries of men who 'know what's best for us.'" ...

Right . . . Ted Kennedy a champion for women! Just not when they're underwater in Chappaquiddick (badum bum ching!) Or - Ted Kennedy, a man who stands for women - especially blondes in short skirts!

On a more serious note, how dare these NAGs presume to say that women have an obligation to vote for Hillary Clinton because of her gender or even that a man's endorsement of another man hits all women hard and is a betrayal! Thanks, but I can think for myself and I will NOT be voting for Hillary.

Obama needs to get a life

AU Embraces Obama on 'One of the Greatest Days of My Life'
"Today is one of the greatest days of my life," [how sad!] Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama declared Monday before hundreds of people outside the Bender Arena at American University in Washington D.C., where minutes before three members of the Kennedy family had endorsed his bid for the presidency.

...

"There is no one else I would rather have in my foxhole," Obama told the cheering overflow crowd. "It's nice to have Ted Kennedy in my court."

[... but not in my car . . . OH SNAP!]

URGENT BREAKING NEWS!!!

I know I, along with millions of others, will never forget where I was when I first heard the news that Puff changed his name to P. Diddy. Or was it Puffy to Diddy? Or P. Daddy? Anyway, I'm sure this will be the last time I am shocked and saddened by the passing of another Sean Jean Puffy P. Diddy Daddy Combs name!

The artist formerly known as Puff Daddy, Puff, Puffy, P. Diddy and Diddy has decided to change his name yet again.

The rap mogul - real name Sean Combs - now simply wants to be known as Sean John, the name of his US clothing and fragrance brand.

He says: "I have always evolved and taken a different name each time. It's nothing unusual where I come from. "Right now I want to be Sean John because that's where I am."

Finally, some outrage

I totally agree with this WSJ editorial about how nice it is that liberals are finally admitting how dirty and deceptive the Clintons are.

Obama's Clinton Education

... Mr. Obama told a TV interviewer. "He continues to make statements that are not supported by the facts -- whether it's about my record of opposition to the war in Iraq or our approach to organizing in Las Vegas."

Now he knows how the rest of us feel.

The Illinois Senator is still a young man, but not so young as to have missed the 1990s. He nonetheless seems to be awakening slowly to what everyone else already knows about the Clintons, which is that they will say and do whatever they "gotta" say or do to win. Listen closely to Mr. Obama, and you can almost hear the echoes of Bob Dole at the end of the 1996 campaign asking, "Where's the outrage?"

This has been the core of the conservative critique of the Clintons for years. So it is illuminating to hear the same critique coming from Mr. Obama and his supporters now that his candidacy poses a threat to the return of the Clinton dynasty. Even Democrats are now admitting the Clintons don't tell the truth -- at least until Mrs. Clinton wins the nomination. ...

Depends on what the meaning of shame is

Raise your hand if you're loving the interparty battle between Obama and the Clintons! [raises both hands]

Some in Party Bristle At Clintons' Attacks
Anti-Obama Ad Heightens Unity Fears

...Responding to the negative ad, Dick Harpootlian, a former chairman of the Democratic Party in South Carolina, accused the Clintons of using the "politics of deception," and he compared the former president to the late Lee Atwater, a
Republican operative from South Carolina who was known for his tough tactics.

In response, Bill Clinton said Harpootlian's comments were a distraction, and he accused the Obama campaign of funneling smears through the media.

"They are feeding you this because they know this is what you want to cover. This is what you live for," he told CNN reporter Jessica Yellin, who asked him for a response to Harpootlian at an appearance in South Carolina. "They just spin you up on this and you happily go along," Clinton said. As aides steered him away, he scolded: "Shame on you."

In Washington, Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.), who endorsed Obama last week, castigated the former president for what he called his "glib cheap shots" at Obama, saying both sides should settle down but placing the blame predominantly on Clinton.

"That's beneath the dignity of a former president," Leahy told reporters, adding: "He is not helping anyone, and certainly not helping the Democratic Party."

That concern was also voiced by some neutral Democrats, who said that the former president's aggressive role, along with the couple's harsh approach recently, threatens to divide the party in the general election.

A few prominent Democrats, including Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (Mass.) and Rep. Rahm Emanuel (Ill.), have spoken to the former president about the force of his Obama critiques. There is some fear within the party that if Obama becomes the nominee, he could emerge personally battered and politically compromised. And there is concern that a Clinton victory could come at a cost -- particularly a loss of black voters, who could blame her for Obama's defeat and stay home in November.

"I'm not underestimating that this could be divisive, but I think both camps know how important this is, that it doesn't go beyond repair," said Sen. Mary Landrieu (La.), the most vulnerable Democrat up for reelection next year, who is unaligned. ...

WaPo apologizes for truth

WashPost Critic Apologizes for E-Mail

Tim Page wrote to Barry's aide last week after receiving a press release about the former mayor's views on the financially troubled Greater Southeast Community Hospital.

"Must we hear about it every time this crack addict
attempts to rehabilitate himself with some new—and typically half-witted—political grandstanding?" the e-mail said. "I'd be grateful if you would take me off your mailing list. I cannot think of anything the useless Marion Barry could do that would interest me in the slightest, up to and including overdose."

...In an e-mail to Barry's aide, Andre Johnson, Page said he was sorry for his "rude" response. "I am deeply ashamed for what I did and I know how hateful my words could be."

...Barry said he was "outraged" at the e-mail, "particularly coming from a reporter at a reputable newspaper like The Washington Post, not a rag." He said Page "ought to be fired, and The Washington Post ought to run an editorial
apology
."

I don't get it; why'd he apologize?

Karma's a biatch

Ouch! The moment Piers Morgan broke three ribs falling off the Segway he said was 'idiot-proof'

If he didn't believe in karma before, Piers Morgan must surely do now.

The ex-newspaper editor, now a columnist for The Mail on Sunday's Live magazine, took great delight in making fun of President Bush for falling off a Segway - the two-wheeled, motorised, gyroscopically balanced scooter that, its makers promise, will never fall over.

His paper, the Daily Mirror, ran the headline in 2003: "You'd have to be an idiot to fall off, wouldn't you Mr President." It added: "If anyone can make a pig's ear of riding a sophisticated, self-balancing machine like this, Dubya can." So, it seems, can Mr Morgan.

He broke three ribs after falling off the Segway at 12mph in California - just three days before he was due to make his biggest TV appearance to date, as a judge on the grand final of reality show America's Got Talent.

...Writing in Live magazine this week, Morgan is rueful about the comments on Mr Bush. He says: "Since only he and I appear to have ever fallen off one, I think the makers of the Segway can probably still justifiably claim the machines are "idiot-proof"."

Jose tries to Off-a-man

Offerman Charged for Bat Assault

Bridgeport, Conn. (AP) - Former major league All-Star Jose Offerman was charged with two counts of second-degree assault after hitting an opposing team's pitcher and catcher with his bat during an independent minor league game.

...Offerman, playing for the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League, homered in the first inning Tuesday night. The next inning, he was hit by a pitch from Bridgeport Bluefish starter Matt Beech and charged the mound with his bat.

Catcher John Nathans was hit in the head and sustained a concussion. He tried to keep playing, but left the game with nausea and collapsed in the dugout, team spokesman Nick Razzette said.

...Bluefish chief executive officer Mary-Jane Foster said she asked the Atlantic League to suspend Offerman from the league for life.

Et tu, Jack?

In the words of Jack Bauer: "DAMMIT!!!"

Jack Bauer's Next Mission: Fighting Global Warming

...One of the latest initiatives: Cool Change, Fox's company-wide program to reduce the network's impact on global warming. As part of that effort, the seventh season of "24" will take steps to reduce and offset the carbon emissions from the show's production, with the goal of having the season finale be entirely carbon-neutral.

It may sound like a publicity stunt, but Fox spokesman Chris Anderson says the network isn't after bigger ratings. "We are publicizing '24's' commitment to climate change for two reasons and two reasons only: to inspire the public to take global warming seriously and hopefully to motivate other studios to make changes to their production practices as well," he says.

...The "24" page at Fox.com now features energy conservation tips and a public service announcement about global warming featuring Kiefer Sutherland; more information will be posted when the show airs in January. Plus, climate change will be incorporated into the series' plot (which just might scare some viewers into taking action).

THIS, is their solution for improving upon last season's drudgery?!

Stop the world, I want to get off!

Why we must close the net

POP legend Sir Elton John wants the internet CLOSED DOWN.

Never one to keep his opinions to himself, the Rocket Man has waded into cyberspace with all guns blazing.

He claims it is destroying good music, saying: “The internet has stopped people from going out and being with each other, creating stuff.

“Instead they sit at home and make their own records, which is sometimes OK but it doesn’t bode well for long-term artistic vision.

“It’s just a means to an end.

“We’re talking about things that are going to change the world and change the way people listen to music and that’s not going to happen with people blogging on the internet.

“I mean, get out there — communicate.

“Hopefully the next movement in music will tear down the internet.

“Let’s get out in the streets and march and protest instead of sitting at home and blogging.

“I do think it would be an incredible experiment to shut down the whole internet for five years and see what sort of art is produced over that span.

“There’s too much technology available.

“I’m sure, as far as music goes, it would be much more interesting than it is today.”

Multi-millionaire Elton, who turned 60 earlier this year, has admitted in the past that he is a bit behind the times. The Grammy award-winner was once quoted as saying: “I am the biggest technophobe of all time.

“I don’t have a mobile phone or an iPod or anything.

“I am such a Luddite when it comes to making music. All I can do is write at the piano.”

Ok, Sir Elton, whatever you say!
